TPACK Model


The acronym TPACK stands for Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge. It is a framework that enables educators to effectively integrate technology into their teaching.

TPACK model leads to understanding of three core areas.
  1. Technological knowledge (TK): Refers to an understanding of various technologies and their capabilities.
  2. Pedagogical Knowledge (PK): Understanding different teaching methods and strategies for promoting learning.
  3. Content Knowledge (CK): A thorough understanding of the subject matter being taught.
The TPACK model serves as a guide for teachers in developing effective lesson plans that seamlessly integrate technology.  This is the sample of lesson plan using TPACK model

Teaching learning material: PowerPoint presentations, videos, images, and textbooks.

Teaching method: guided learning 

Previous knowledge: They already know the definition of adaptation and the habitat,

and they have knowledge of different plants.

Lesson objectives: At the end of the lesson, the child will be able to:

    Define types of plants with respect to their adaptation and habitat.

    Write at least two characteristics of different types of plants.

    Explain the importance of learning about the specific habitat of the plants.

Engage

Start the lesson by showing videos on “plants and their habitat” to engage students

and encourage them to generate questions.

Explore (guided learning)

Direction: Work individually and solve the following question; for this, I will provide

you all with 2 minutes. 

Questions:

  1. How do plants manage to survive in the desert?

  1. What are hydrophytes? Give two examples.

While they are solving the question, I will guide them on how to go on with finding the solution and help them get the correct answer. After that, I will ask a few students to share their answers.

Explain 

For a further understanding of the concepts in “How Plants Adapt to Specific Habitats,” I will ask what they have learned from the videos they have watched on different traits of plants that help them adapt in different places. I will have a few students to share.

After that, for further clarification, I will explain the concepts of how plants adapt to specific habitats using my PowerPoint presentation.

In order to check their understanding, I will let them answer the following questions:

For this, I will give you 4 minutes. After that, you need to share your answer with the whole class.

  1. Write important traits for each type of plant that help them adapt to different habitats.

While they are answering the questions, I will guide and monitor them and help them get the right answer.

To conclude the lesson, and check their understanding of the topic, I will let them do the quiz.
