Communicative Tool
Reflection on communicative tools
We learned that communicative tool is anything that allows people to exchange information and ideas. Communicative tools have become an undeniable extension of ourselves in today's world. From the constant buzz of texts to the endless scroll of social media, they weave themselves into the fabric of our daily interactions.
The communicative tools include textbooks, handouts, computers, online learning platforms such as Google Classroom, video conferencing tools, and other social media apps that facilitate information exchange among people.
By using the different communicative tools, the the learning can happen in two ways. Synchronous and asynchronous learning.
Synchronous learning is the types of learning where everyone (teacher and students) are online together at the same time, talking and interacting back and forth. The example of synchronous learning can be zoom meeting, because in zoom meeting everyone is involves in face to face conversation even though they are online.
communication between students and teachers. Students are more likely to remain focused and motivated when interacting with others, and the teacher can assess students comprehension in real time. Students will also receive immediate feedbacks and build relationship between the teachers and students and as well as among the students.
Though synchronous learning has lots of advantages it is not flexible to everyone due to its requirements of high performing technology and some places being remote areas and it has poor connection of the networks.
Coming the the asynchronous learning is self-paced. Students can access course materials and complete activities on their own schedule, without having to be online at the same time as the instructor or their classmates. This can include reading articles, watching recorded lectures, and taking online quizzes.
Asynchronous learning does not requires instant feedbacks.
Students can get access to the materials at any time as there is no fixed schedule.
However asynchronous learning can lead to misleading of the concepts as there is only limited communication and collaboration between teachers and the students
As a future teacher, I plan to incorporate blends of synchronous and asynchronous learning into my teaching and learning because both can supplement each other in students' learning. For example, let students watch recorded videos at home and ask them to call the teacher for clarification involve both synchronous and asynchronous learning in a way students can learn effectively.
google classroom
Under communicative tools we also studied about google classroom since google classroom is one of the communicative tool. This is because in a google classroom teachers can share announcements, assignments, and resources with students. Students can respond to questions, leave comments, and complete assignments directly on the platform. This results in a back and forth exchange of information and ideas.
Then we learned the steps involved in creating google classroom
1. Go to the website and search for "classroom.google.com", then click on it. Then it will take you to the empty classroom shown below.
2. After that, it will take you to a page where you can select a role from teacher or student, as this is your first time creating the classroom. As you create the classroom, select a teacher from among these.
3.Then, on the empty Google Classroom page, click the plus '+' button. At that time, it will take you to two options, so select "create classroom"
4. When you click on Create Classroom, you will be taken to a page where you can fill out the forms. During that time, you should write the class name, section, subject, and room. Then you must submit it to complete the Google Classroom creation process.
5. After that, you can approach people and include your co-teachers and students. then, you can make an announcement in Google Classroom by writing in the announcement site and then tapping create to upload teaching and learning materials such as notes, videos, textbooks, PowerPoints, quizzes, assignments, and tests. These are the steps involved in creating a Google Classroom, and I'll show you a sample. For these, click on the link to see how we can actually do work in Google Classroom.
