Middle level ICT integration
Middle Level of ICT Integration
Today, we learned about PhET stimulation, PhET stimulation is interactive tools used in fun and interactive teaching and learning. The use of PhET stimulation in teaching and learning can help students develop curiosity and interest among the students making the learning process more engaging and meaningful.
During olden days, students were taught using the textbooks and students were not exposed to the use of ICT, so the teaching and learning was not that effective during these days, however as world develop, ICT came to the existence. Therefore, most of the teachers of modern days, uses ICT while teaching and learning as integration of ICT in teaching and learning is beneficial to students, in terms of boosting their interest and making the learning more interactive and meaningful.
In teaching and learning, we mostly integrate the middle level of ICT, since middle level of ICT is related to planning of the lesson and it enhances engagement, promotes critical thinking and prepare students for the digital world. Using technology in the classroom can make lesson more interactive and provide access to a wide range of resources and tools. It helps students develop digital literacy skills and prepares them for future careers that require technological proficiency.Let's take a look at how we integrate middle-level ICT into our lesson. Because PhET simulation is a component of the middle level of ICT integration, we created it to teach an electricity lesson. Using PhET simulation, we can see how the brightness of blubs changes as the number of cells increases.
Using the PhET simulation, we can teach the concept of electricity in a very simple and effective manner. Therefore, I found it very convenient to use PhET simulation to teach certain topics.
Lesson plan on PhET simulation
Sydney Micro Lesson Plan on Three States of Matter
Class : V
Subject: Science
Topic: Three States of Matter
Time: 40 minutes
Previous knowledge:
Students should have a basic understanding of matter and its properties, like mass and volume.
Materials Required:
Chart Paper
Markers
Textbook
Interactive Simulation ( PhET interactive simulations on Three States of Matter)
Lesson Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
Identify the three main states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.
Describe the arrangement and movement of particles in each state of matter by watching PhET simulations.
Differentiate between states of matter based on their properties.
Lesson Introduction (10 minutes):
Begin by asking students what everything around them is made of. Record their responses on a chart and introduce the concept of "matter."
Inquire, "Can all these objects change their shape?" "Can they all be poured?" introduce the terms "solid," "liquid," and "gas." To help students understand "Three States of Matter," we will show them a video.

Lesson Development (20 minutes)
Activity 1: Particle Power (10 minutes) )
Briefly explain the concept of tiny particles that comprise all matter.Refer students to the PhET simulation: [PhET Interactive Simulations: States of Matter].
- What are the differences in particle movement and spacing between solids, liquids, and gases?
- How does the arrangement of particles influence the properties of each state of matter (shape, volume, flow)?
Monitoring Activity:
The teacher will go around to ensure all students have access to the PhET simulation website and are actively doing the task assigned.
Follow-up Activity:
Facilitate a discussion about how particle movement relates to the properties of each state (solids have a fixed shape, liquids take the shape of the container, and gasses have no fixed shape or volume
Lesson Closure (10 minutes)
Play a quick game for one minute. Call out an object, and students respond by saying "solid," "liquid," or "gas.". For example, a teacher will say stone, and students should say solid; a teacher will say juice; the students should say liquid; and so on.
Finally, we will do an exit ticket session to close the lesson. For that, we will briefly have students write down one interesting fact they learned about the states of matter.
